Curriculum Structure

Program Overview & Learning Outcomes

The Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience examines neurobiology, neural circuits, and behavior to prepare students for medicine, biotechnology, and doctoral research.

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the baccalaureate curriculum, graduates will:

  1. Explain the molecular, cellular, and circuit-level mechanisms governing nervous system function, synaptic transmission, and neuroplasticity.
  2. Formulate and investigate hypotheses regarding brain-behavior relationships using electrophysiological, behavioral, and molecular biological methodologies.
  3. Analyze neuropharmacological mechanisms of drug action and the pathophysiology of major neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders.
  4. Synthesize complex neuroscience literature and empirical laboratory data to produce rigorous scientific manuscripts and conference-style research presentations.

Prerequisite Progression Chain

Neuroscience Core: BIO 101 + CHEM 101 → NEUR 201 → NEUR 301 → NEUR 410 → NEUR 490.
