Applying & requirements
Which application platforms does Alkimi University accept?
Alkimi accepts both the Common Application and the Alkimi University Application. We hold no preference between the two platforms; choose whichever is most convenient for your family and school counselor.
How much is the application fee, and who qualifies for a fee waiver?
The application fee is $60. Waived automatically for students who visit campus, are eligible for a College Board or NACAC fee waiver, are first-generation, or are active-duty or veteran military. Others can request one from their counselor or the admissions office.
What essays and writing supplements are required?
Applicants must submit one personal essay (up to 650 words) from the Common Application or Alkimi Application prompts, plus our Alkimi institutional supplement: a short answer explaining "Why Alkimi?" (up to 250 words).
How many letters of recommendation are required?
We require two recommendations: one School Report and recommendation from your high school guidance counselor, and one teacher recommendation from an instructor in a core academic subject (English, mathematics, science, social science, or foreign language).

Testing policy & codes
What is Alkimi’s standardized testing policy?
Test-optional for Fall 2027 entry (the 2026–27 cycle). SAT or ACT scores are considered only if the applicant chooses to submit them. Not submitting scores does not disadvantage an applicant, including for merit scholarships. Self-reported scores are accepted; official scores are required only after enrolling.
What are Alkimi’s institutional SAT and ACT codes?
Our SAT institution code is 5555 and our ACT institution code is 5555.
Do you accept self-reported standardized test scores?
Yes. You may self-report SAT or ACT scores on your application or applicant portal. Official score reports sent directly from College Board or ACT are required only for students who enroll at Alkimi.

Deadlines & decision release
What is the difference between Early Action and Early Decision?
Early Action (deadline Nov 1, 2026) is non-binding, allowing you to compare financial aid offers until May 1. Early Decision (deadline Nov 15, 2026) is a binding commitment: if admitted, you agree to withdraw applications to other institutions and submit your enrollment deposit by January 8, 2027.
When is the Regular Decision deadline?
The Regular Decision application deadline is Friday, January 15, 2027. This is also the priority deadline for merit scholarship consideration. Decisions are released by April 1, 2027. Applications received after January 15 are reviewed on a rolling, space-available basis until May 1, 2027.
When is the National Candidates’ Reply Date, and what are the deposits?
The reply deadline for non-binding admission offers is Saturday, May 1, 2027. To confirm your enrollment, students submit a $400 enrollment deposit and a $250 housing deposit.
When is the Mid-Year Report due for Regular Decision applicants?
School counselors must submit mid-year grades as soon as first-semester senior transcripts are finalized, and no later than February 15, 2027.

Cost of attendance & financial aid
What is the total estimated Cost of Attendance for on-campus undergraduates?
For the 2026–27 academic year, direct billed charges total $65,950 (tuition $48,600, mandatory fees $1,150, standard double room $9,400, unlimited dining $6,800). Including estimated books ($1,200) and personal expenses ($2,400), the total estimated cost of attendance is $69,550.
How do I apply for merit-based scholarships?
All first-year applicants who apply by January 15 are considered automatically. No separate application. Test scores are not required for merit consideration. Awards range from the Alchemist Award ($10,000/yr) to the full-tuition Founders Scholarship.
Which financial aid forms and codes are needed for need-based grants?
Submit the FAFSA (Federal School Code: E55555) and the CSS Profile (Code: 5555). Priority deadlines are Nov 15, 2026 for Early Decision/Early Action, and Feb 15, 2027 for Regular Decision.
Does Alkimi offer a monthly payment plan?
Yes. The Alkimi Monthly Payment Plan offers Five interest-free monthly installments per semester (fall: July–November; spring: December–April). with a $50 per semester enrollment fee. Enroll by July 15 (fall) or December 15 (spring).
Are students required to carry health insurance?
Undergraduate student health insurance is $2,950 annually. Automatically billed unless waived with proof of comparable coverage by September 15 (fall) or February 1 (spring).
Experience Campus
Tours & campus visits
When are daily campus tours and information sessions held?
Monday–Friday at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., plus select Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. (September–April). Each session lasts 45 minutes and is followed by a 75-minute student-led campus tour.
Where do tours start, and where can prospective families park?
All tours depart from the Welcome Center, Founders Hall. Free visitor parking in Lot A off Founders Way. Pick up a dashboard pass at the Welcome Center.
When are the Fall Open Houses and Admitted Student Days?
Fall Open Houses take place on Saturday, October 3, 2026 and Saturday, November 7, 2026. Admitted Student Days for the incoming class are on Saturday, March 27, 2027 and Saturday, April 10, 2027.
Transfer Pathway
Transfer admissions & credit evaluation
What are the application deadlines for transfer students?
For Fall 2027 entry, the transfer deadline is Tuesday, June 1, 2027, with priority review for files completed by March 1, 2027. For Spring 2027 entry, the transfer deadline is Sunday, November 1, 2026. Transfer admissions decisions are released on a rolling basis.
How does Alkimi evaluate and award transfer credit?
Courses from regionally accredited institutions completed with a C or better (2.0) transfer. Up to 64 credits from two-year colleges and 90 credits in total may transfer. Grades do not transfer and are not counted in the Alkimi GPA. Official evaluations are completed within 10 business days of admission.
Are transfer students eligible for merit scholarships?
Yes. Admitted transfer students are automatically considered for the Transfer Merit Scholarship ($8,000–$15,000 per year), renewable with a 2.75 cumulative Alkimi GPA.
Global Community
International applicants & visas
What English proficiency exams and minimum scores are accepted?
TOEFL iBT 90, IELTS Academic 7.0, Duolingo English Test 120, or PTE Academic 61. Waived for students who have studied for at least three years in a school where English is the language of instruction.
When must international students submit financial certification for an I-20?
Certification of Finances showing funding for the first year of attendance is required before an I-20 is issued.
Do international applicants need a credential evaluation for foreign coursework?
Course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member is required for transfer credit from institutions outside the United States.
Residential Life
Housing & dining
Where do first-year students live on campus?
First-year students reside in traditional double rooms in Juniper Hall ($9,400/year) or suite-style rooms in Alder Hall ($10,600/year). Living-learning communities are located in Birch Hall.
What dining plans are available for residential students?
Options include the Unlimited All-Access Plan ($6,800/year), the Block 225 Plan ($6,100/year), and the Apartment Flex Plan ($3,200/year). Dining is centered in Brightwater Commons.
Is campus housing guaranteed for undergraduate students?
Campus housing is guaranteed for first-year and sophomore students who meet application deadlines, with upper-class students selecting from Birch Hall and Summit Apartments.

Majors, minors & curriculum
What undergraduate academic programs does Alkimi highlight?
Popular programs include Biology, Computer Science, Nursing (BSN), Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, Psychology, English, History, Data Science, Environmental Science. Alkimi offers majors and minors across five distinct schools.
Can undergraduates double major or combine disparate fields of study?
Yes. All undergraduates complete the Alkimi Core curriculum and frequently combine majors and minors across colleges, such as History and Data Science, or Biology and Psychology.
When do undergraduates declare their major?
Students may declare upon admission or explore during their first three semesters, formally declaring a major by the end of sophomore year with guidance from the Academic Advising Center in Lovell Hall.
