Living on campus deepens friendships, connects students to academic resources, and forms the core of the Alkimi undergraduate experience.
Two-Year Campus Residency
First- and second-year students live on campus unless they live with a parent or guardian within 30 miles, are 21 or older, are married, or have dependents. Under university policy, living in a residential community fosters collaboration, academic persistence, and personal growth during foundational college years.
Approved Residency Exemption Criteria:
- Commuting daily from the primary home of a parent or guardian within 30 miles of campus
- Age 21 or older prior to the first day of fall semester instruction
- Legally married or in a registered domestic partnership
- Serving as custodial parent or legal guardian of dependent children
- Documented military veteran status
Exemption petitions must be submitted through AlkimiHub by June 1 for the upcoming academic year. Details: Student Handbook §10.1.
Housing Application Deadlines
Housing applications for new students open once the enrollment deposit is paid; the priority deadline is May 15, 2027. Housing contracts are binding for the entire academic year (Fall and Spring semesters). Cancelling an assigned contract after July 1 incurs a $500 cancellation fee. Mid-year releases (for study abroad, December graduation, or medical leave) must be filed by December 1. Details: Student Handbook §10.3.

Birch Hall Living-Learning Communities (LLCs)
Birch Hall LLCs: STEM Scholars, Creative Arts, Global Village, Wellness, and First-Generation Scholars. LLCs connect students who share academic passions or personal identities with tailored co-curricular activities, guest speakers, faculty mentorship, and common study cohorts. Applications are submitted concurrently with the primary housing agreement.

Dietary Accommodations & Allergen-Friendly Dining
Brightwater Dining Hall features an allergen-friendly station (top-9 free), providing hot meals prepared without the top nine allergens (milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soy, sesame) and gluten.
Students with clinical dietary needs or celiac disease can schedule a complimentary consultation with the campus Registered Dietitian. If clinical dietary accommodations cannot be satisfied through dining options, students may submit a Medical Meal Plan Accommodation Petition with Accessibility Services (Student Handbook §12.2).
Meal Plan Changes: Students may adjust their meal plan election in AlkimiHub until the end of the second week of classes (September 9, 2026 for Fall; February 2, 2027 for Spring). Details: Student Handbook §10.7.

Clear expectations designed to ensure a peaceful, safe, and academically focused living environment.
Quiet Hours & Courtesy Standards
Standard quiet hours are observed Sunday through Thursday from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., and Friday through Saturday from 1:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Courtesy hours are in effect 24 hours daily. Strict 24-hour quiet hours are enforced throughout final exam periods.

Residential Guest Policy
Residents may host overnight guests for up to three nights in any 14-day window, provided all roommates have given express prior consent. All residential guests must be registered at the hall security desk and accompanied by their host at all times.

Alcohol & Substance Regulations
Juniper and Alder Halls are strictly substance-free; alcohol is prohibited regardless of student age. In Summit Apartments, students age 21 or older may possess moderate quantities inside private apartment units. Cannabis is strictly banned campus-wide under federal law.

Room Change Process
To promote community stabilization, an administrative Room Freeze is enforced during the first two weeks of classes each semester. After this window, students seeking a room reassignment complete roommate mediation with their RA, consult their Hall Director, and submit a formal request via AlkimiHub. Unauthorized room changes incur a $100 administrative fine.

Break Housing & Hall Closures
Halls stay open without additional fees during Fall Break and Thanksgiving Break. Halls close for Winter Break at 10:00 a.m. on December 18, 2026, and reopen January 15, 2027. Students with documented athletic, employment, or distance needs must apply for Winter Break Housing by December 1 (weekly room surcharge applies).
