Vehicle Registration
Parking Permits and Lot Allocations
Any motor vehicle parked on university property between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday must display an active parking permit. All permit fees are billed directly to the student account.

Permits are valid for the complete academic year (August through May). Spring-only permits become available each January at 50% of the annual rate.

Residential Regulations
First-Year Resident Vehicle Policy
To minimize campus vehicular congestion, promote pedestrian safety, and foster student community, Alkimi University strictly restricts vehicles for first-year residential students.
First-Year Car Restriction
Under Student Handbook §18.2, first-year residential students living in on-campus housing are prohibited from bringing a motor vehicle to campus or purchasing a campus parking permit. This restriction applies throughout the entirety of the freshman year, including fall and spring semesters.
First-year residents can easily navigate Merrow Falls using the complimentary Gold Line campus shuttle, regional bus transit, secure campus bicycle racks, and peer rideshares.
Exemption Process
Hardship Exemption Criteria
First-year residents facing extraordinary circumstances may submit an Exemption Petition to Parking & Transportation. Petitions are approved solely for:
- Verified Medical Care: Ongoing, recurring specialized medical or psychological treatment off campus not accessible via public transit.
- Military Service: Active military or reserve unit service drills requiring vehicular transportation.
- Essential Employment: Substantial off-campus employment situated outside the Merrow Falls public transit service area.
Deadline: Fall petitions must be submitted by August 1. Decisions are final.
Compliance & Appeals
Enforcement, Citations, and Appeals
Parking rules are actively enforced to protect reserved stalls, emergency lanes, and accessible parking facilities across campus.
Enforcement Hours
Permits are required and enforced Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in all surface lots and campus structures.
Handicapped spaces, fire lanes, loading docks, and 24-hour service stalls are monitored and enforced 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Fine Schedule
- Standard parking violation: $40
- Unauthorized stall / over lines: $40
- Fire lane or ADA space violation: $150
- Wheel boot removal fee: $75
Wheel Boot Policy
Under §18.3, any vehicle accumulating 3 unpaid parking citations is subject to immediate immobilization by wheel boot.
The owner must pay all outstanding citation fees plus the mandatory $75 boot removal fee before the vehicle is released.
How to File a Citation Appeal
Citations may be formally appealed through the online parking portal within 14 calendar days of citation issuance.
Failure to appeal within the 14-day window forfeits all appellate rights, and the fine is transferred to the student account. Appeals based on unfamiliarity with policies or lack of open stalls cannot be granted.

Welcoming prospective students, families, guest speakers, and community members to Merrow Falls.
Free Visitor Parking in Lot A
Official visitors and prospective families park free in Lot A directly adjacent to Founders Hall. To obtain a complimentary visitor dashboard permit, stop by the Undergraduate Admissions Welcome Center on the first floor of Founders Hall upon arrival.
Welcome Center staff issue single-day or multi-day guest passes Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on select Saturday tour mornings.
Event and Weekend Guest Parking
Campus parking lots are open and permit-free on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as weekdays after 7:00 p.m., except for overnight restrictions in residential lots R1–R3 and reserved 24-hour maintenance spaces.
Special event parking for athletics competitions at Kestrel Fieldhouse or theater performances in Lovell Auditorium is designated by directional signs on campus approach roads.

The Gold Line shuttle runs every 15 minutes from 7:00 a.m. to midnight on weekdays, connecting Summit Apartments, Lot C4, Brightwater Commons, and downtown Merrow Falls. Free with an AlkimiCard.

Monday through Friday. Continuous 15-minute departure frequency.
