Examines audit planning, risk assessment, internal controls, evidence, and reporting under current auditing standards. Students work through a full audit file for a mid-sized company.
ACCT 550 Federal Taxation of Individuals and Property 3 credits Fall
Covers gross income, deductions, credits, and the tax treatment of property transactions for individuals. Includes tax research using primary authorities and preparation of complex returns.
ACCT 555 Federal Taxation of Business Entities 3 credits Spring
Covers the taxation of C corporations, S corporations, partnerships, and limited liability companies, including formation, distributions, and liquidation. Students write memos on entity choice for small business clients.
ACCT 560 Advanced Financial Reporting I 3 credits Fall
Studies revenue recognition, leases, pensions, income taxes, and other complex reporting topics under US GAAP. Emphasizes judgment calls and how they appear in published statements.
ACCT 565 Advanced Financial Reporting II 3 credits Spring
Covers business combinations, consolidated statements, foreign currency translation, and segment reporting. Includes an introduction to international financial reporting standards.
ACCT 570 Accounting Analytics 3 credits Spring
Students use SQL, spreadsheets, and visualization software to test ledgers, detect anomalies, and build audit and close dashboards. Each meeting is a hands-on session with real transaction data sets.
ACCT 580 Professional Ethics and Responsibility 3 credits Summer
Examines the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct, auditor independence, and state licensure rules through case discussion. Students defend positions on ethical dilemmas in small groups.
ACCT 575 Forensic Accounting and Fraud Examination 3 credits Fall
Studies how fraud is committed, detected, and investigated, from asset misappropriation to financial statement schemes. Seminar discussion centers on published enforcement cases.
ACCT 585 Governmental and Not-for-Profit Accounting 3 credits Summer
Covers fund accounting, governmental financial reporting, and the reporting rules for charities, hospitals, and universities. Delivered online with weekly recorded lectures and problem sets.
FIN 560 Investments and Portfolio Management 3 credits Fall
Introduces security valuation, risk and return, diversification, and portfolio construction. Students manage a simulated portfolio through the semester.
FIN 570 Financial Modeling 3 credits Fall, Spring, Summer
Students build three-statement forecasts, discounted cash flow valuations, and sensitivity analyses in spreadsheets. Each session is a guided modeling exercise in the computer lab.
MGT 560 Business Analytics 3 credits Fall, Spring
Introduces data preparation, descriptive and predictive modeling, and communicating results to decision makers. Students complete analyses in Python and spreadsheets during lab sessions.
MGT 565 Data Visualization and Predictive Modeling 3 credits Fall, Spring, Summer
Builds dashboards and forecasting models for sales, cost, and risk data. Students present a data story to a mock executive audience.

Per credit hour, plus $300 in mandatory fees per semester. 33 credits come to $47,850 in tuition at 2026–27 rates.
Assistantship stipend
$21,000
9-month stipend for a master's teaching, research, or graduate assistant.

Assistantships in this program
Full-time students are considered for graduate assistantships in the School of Business.
A 20-hour assistantship includes a full tuition waiver of up to 12 credits per semester and covers mandatory fees (Graduate Handbook §6.3).
