Dr. Victor Huang

Victor Huang has been dean of the Graduate School since 2020. The Graduate School, in Founders Hall 240, oversees master's and doctoral education across all five schools: admission standards, academic standing, assistantships and fellowships, and the review of theses and dissertations. Huang chairs the Graduate Council, the policy body for graduate education, and serves ex officio on the Faculty Senate.

A statistician, Huang studies methods for handling missing data in long-running health studies. He joined Alkimi's statistics faculty in 2002, helped design the Master of Science in Data Science, and served as associate dean of the Graduate School before becoming dean. As dean he has expanded the summer research and dissertation completion fellowships for doctoral students and simplified graduate assistantship contracts.

Huang grew up in Taipei and came to the United States for college. He holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a PhD in statistics from Vantry State University. He bakes bread every weekend and brings the results to Graduate Council meetings.
