Sanjay Mehta

Sanjay Mehta directs IT Service Delivery, including the IT Service Desk on the lower level of Whitcombe Library. His team handles AlkimiID accounts, sign-in and security keys, classroom technology, and loaner laptops, and answers most of the questions students and employees bring to IT.

Mehta chairs the AI Advisory Council's Security & Data Governance Working Group, which reviews vendor security and FERPA compliance for AI tools the university considers. With CIO Nadia Kowalski, he led the security and privacy review of the Alkimi platform. His team also set up a separate knowledge collection for each course in the course assistant pilot, so each assistant draws only on its instructor's materials.

Mehta started at Alkimi in 2009 as a desktop support technician at the same service desk he now oversees, and he became director in 2020. He holds a bachelor's degree in information technology from Tamarack State University and a master's degree in computer science from Alkimi, which he completed while working full time. He restores vintage mechanical keyboards and is teaching his two daughters to type on them.
