Nadia Kowalski

Nadia Kowalski joined Alkimi as vice president and chief information officer in 2021. She leads Information Technology, which runs the campus network, enterprise and administrative systems, cybersecurity, research computing, and the university's Alkimi AI platform.

Kowalski is administrative co-chair of the AI Advisory Council, with faculty co-chair Dr. Ingrid Solberg, and the council reports jointly to her and the Provost. With Sanjay Mehta, director of IT Service Delivery, she led the university's security and privacy review of the Alkimi platform from December 2025 through August 2026, which approved it for use with confidential university data. She reviews the technical and data security side of AI policy exception requests and serves ex officio on the Faculty Senate's Library & Information Technology Committee.

Before Alkimi, Kowalski spent twelve years at Ostrander University, most recently as deputy CIO for enterprise systems, where she led the replacement of the university's student information system. She got her start as a systems administrator in a research computing group while in graduate school. She holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from Tamarack State University and a master's degree in information systems from Ostrander. She and her partner are restoring a farmhouse outside Merrow Falls, and she coaches her daughter's youth soccer team.
