The Bachelor of Science in Biology provides rigorous cellular, organismal, evolutionary, and ecological preparation for students pursuing biomedical careers, graduate study, or ecological research.
Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the baccalaureate curriculum, graduates will:
- Apply the scientific method to design controlled experiments, collect biological specimens, and statistically test hypotheses.
- Explain fundamental cellular mechanisms, including DNA replication, gene expression, metabolism, and cellular signaling.
- Synthesize evolutionary dynamics, ecological interactions, and population genetics across diverse biosphere taxa.
- Demonstrate professional laboratory competencies, including sterile culture, microscopy, PCR amplification, and gel electrophoresis.
Prerequisite Progression Chain
Biology: BIO 101 → BIO 102 → BIO 210 → BIO 220 / BIO 350 → BIO 490.
Chemistry: CHEM 101 → CHEM 102 → CHEM 210 → CHEM 211.
Physics: MATH 110 → PHYS 111 → PHYS 112.
