Dr. Samuel Adebayo

Samuel Adebayo has been provost and vice president for academic affairs since July 2023. As Alkimi's chief academic officer, he oversees the five schools and the Graduate School, Whitcombe Library, research administration, admissions, academic records, and academic support for students. The deans report to him, and he makes the university's final recommendations on faculty appointments, tenure, and promotion.

Adebayo has made clear guidance on generative AI a priority. During the 2025–26 academic year he pressed for a single university framework, noting that inconsistent course policies were confusing students and sending ambiguous cases to the Office of Academic Integrity. The result, developed with the AI Advisory Council, was the three-tier syllabus policy the Faculty Senate adopted in April 2026. His office also hears final procedural appeals in grade disputes and decides appeals when an AI policy exception is denied.

An economist, Adebayo studies how workers and families respond when a regional economy loses a major employer, and he holds an appointment as professor of economics. He came to Alkimi from Wendover University, where he chaired the Department of Economics and then served as vice provost for academic affairs. Born in Nigeria, he moved to the United States at 12. He earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Castellan College and a PhD from Corwin University. He plays cello in the Merrow Falls Community Orchestra, and each August he and his wife host new faculty at their home.
