Dr. Ruth Fenwick

Ruth Fenwick is the founding director of the Office of Academic Integrity in Lovell Hall 315. The office administers the University Academic Integrity Policy: faculty file reports with it, it tracks outcomes, and it supports the Academic Integrity Board's hearing panels. Most cases never reach a hearing. In 2025–26, 97 of the 142 reported cases were resolved through a Faculty Resolution Agreement between the student and the instructor.

Fenwick taught first-year writing and Victorian literature in Alkimi's English department for twenty years before the office opened in 2016. She has led the office's work on generative AI, which accounted for nearly a third of reported cases last year, and helped shape the three-tier AI policy that now appears in every syllabus. She serves on the AI Advisory Council. "Most students who end up in my office made one bad decision late at night," she says. "Our job is to make sure it stays one."

She holds a bachelor's degree in English from Kellbrook College and a PhD in English literature from Wendover University. She does the Sunday crossword in pen and keeps two beehives behind her house.
