Jordan Ellis

Jordan Ellis directs Residence Life and Housing in Brightwater Commons 140. His office assigns rooms across campus, from the traditional doubles of Juniper Hall and the suites of Alder Hall to the living-learning communities in Birch Hall and the upperclass Summit Apartments. It runs move-in, trains and supervises the student Resident Assistants on every floor, and works with the CARE Team to support students who are struggling.

Ellis became director in 2023 after four years as associate director. He came to Alkimi from Ostrander University, where he was a live-in hall director, and he got his start in residence life as an RA at Kellbrook College. At Alkimi he helped launch the First-Generation Scholars community in Birch Hall and made roommate mediation a standard part of RA training. "Your roommate doesn't have to be your best friend," he tells first-year students. "But you do have to talk to each other."

Ellis holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from Kellbrook College and a master's degree in higher education and student affairs from Ostrander University. A serious home cook, he hosts a Sunday dinner for his RA staff every semester. After six years of living in residence halls, he still wakes up for every fire alarm.
