Dr. Evelyn Marsh

Evelyn Marsh became the 14th president of Alkimi University on July 1, 2019, and is the first woman to hold the office. She also holds an appointment as professor of chemistry.

As president, Marsh works with the Board of Trustees on the university's long-range direction and leads its relationships with alumni, donors, and the city of Merrow Falls. Her tenure has centered on undergraduate research across disciplines, modern teaching and research laboratories, and transparent shared governance. She presides over university convocations and gives the State of the University address at fall convocation each year. This year she is leading Alkimi through its accreditation self-study with the Lakes & Plains Commission on Higher Education and the start of a new strategic planning cycle.

Before coming to Alkimi, Marsh spent 26 years at Ostrander University, where she joined the chemistry faculty in 1993 and later served as dean of arts and sciences and, from 2013 to 2019, as provost. A physical chemist, she studied how energy moves across surfaces, and she mentored more than forty undergraduate researchers in her lab. She earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Stonecroft College and a PhD in physical chemistry from Vantry State University. She and her husband, Paul, a retired high school physics teacher, walk the Merrow River path most mornings and rarely miss an Alchemists home game.
