About Colleen O'Hara
Colleen O'Hara has worked in the Office of the Registrar for nearly thirty years and has been University Registrar since 2014. Her office, at the Alkimi One Stop in Harlan Hall, runs course registration, maintains official academic records, issues transcripts and enrollment verifications, and certifies that students have completed their degrees.
O'Hara oversees the AlkimiHub degree audit that students and advisers use to track requirements, and each year she works with departments to build the new catalog's rules into it, including those for the new Minor in AI & Society. She is the university's lead on student records privacy under FERPA. On the AI Advisory Council, she makes sure any new tool that touches student records follows the same rules her office does.
She started at Alkimi in 1997 as a records assistant and finished her bachelor's degree in history here in the evenings. She later earned a master's degree in public administration from Vantry State University, and she is a past president of the Lakes Region Association of Collegiate Registrars. O'Hara has four grown children and an elderly beagle named Transcript, and she keeps a copy of Alkimi's first course catalog, from 1891, on her office wall.
