The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics develops abstract theoretical deduction, rigorous axiomatic proof construction, mathematical modeling, and computational algorithmic application.
Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the baccalaureate curriculum, graduates will:
- Construct logically rigorous mathematical proofs utilizing direct, contradiction, contrapositive, and inductive techniques.
- Solve complex continuous and discrete mathematical problems across linear algebra, calculus, and differential equations.
- Analyze abstract algebraic structures (groups, rings, fields) and real topological spaces.
- Implement numerical algorithms and computational simulations to model scientific phenomena.
Prerequisite Progression Chain
Continuous Track: MATH 140 → MATH 141 → MATH 240 → MATH 340 → MATH 420.
Abstract Track: MATH 141 + MATH 250 → MATH 301 → MATH 410.
