About Dr. Whitney Amato
Whitney Amato holds the Harlan Professorship and teaches Philosophy of Mind and Artificial Intelligence as well as Metaphysics & Philosophy of Mind. Her research investigates theories of machine consciousness, cognitive architecture, and metaphysical accounts of personal identity. She is currently completing a book exploring whether large language models exhibit genuine semantic understanding.
Dr. Whitney Amato is a member of the Department of Philosophy in the College of Arts & Sciences.
