About Dr. Fernando Figueroa
Fernando Figueroa teaches American Literature and Senior Seminar in Literary Research, specializing in African American modernism and the Harlem Renaissance. His scholarship examines the intersection of jazz improvisation, blues aesthetics, and mid-twentieth-century poetry. He has curated archival exhibits highlighting little-known literary broadsides from early black-owned printing presses.
